Two February Tax Webinars Hosted by Tom Copeland Can Save You Money!

I’m offering two webinars in February that can help you save time and money on your 2015 and 2016 taxes.

February 9th – “The Top Five Tax Deductions Every Family Child Care Provider Should Know About”

This webinar will begin at 8:30pm Eastern Time and will last one hour.

Many family child care providers pay too much in taxes each year because they don’t know all the tax deductions they are entitled to claim. This webinar will cover:

  • The key tax deductions that will save you the most money on your taxes
  • How to defend your tax deduction if your tax preparer doesn’t believe you can deduct it
  • What records you need to have to claim your deductions
  • How to reconstruct your records if you don’t have them

February 16th – “Your Most Important Tax Number: The Time-Space Percentage”

This webinar will begin at 10:00pm Eastern Time and will last one hour.

Calculating your Time-Space Percentage correctly is the single most important thing you can do to reduce your expenses. That’s because this percentage will be applied to thousands and thousands of dollars of house-related expenses: property tax, mortgage interest, house insurance, house repairs, utilities, and house depreciation.

This webinar will cover:

  • What hours you can count for your Time Percent when children are not present in your home
  • How to keep an accurate record of the hours you work in your home, particularly when children are not present
  • How to determine the total square footage of your home
  • How to determine if a room in your home is used “regularly” or only “occasionally” for your business
  • How to determine if you can use the “exclusive use room” rule to greatly increase your Time-Space Percentage

To register. If you have questions, contact Mandi Schill at

Participants can ask me questions during the webinars and will receive a copy of the power point and handouts after the webinar.

Each webinar costs $25 and is 100% tax deductible. They are recorded, so you can listen to it later if you can’t attend live.

These webinars are part of a monthly webinar series I conduct in partnership with the National Association for Family Child Care.

  1. Can I claim the time in class? I am taking Child Care classes.

Do you have a list of qualified tax preparers in the Wausau area?

    • You can count hours only if you are in your home. Listening to my webinar in your home would count. Taking a class outside of your home would not. If you are a member of the National Association for Family Child Care you can access their tax preparer directory at If not, ask other providers in your area if they use a tax preparer who is doing a good job for them.
