The Greatest Marketing Idea Ever?

I've been teaching classes on marketing for over 30 years but recently I heard probably the greatest marketing idea ever from a family child care provider in Wisconsin.

She lives in a small town where every spring the town newspaper prints the names of the upcoming graduates of the local high school and community college.

This provider identifies which of these graduates once attended her child care program. She then runs an ad in the same newspaper that lists her former children and says, "Congratulations graduates of the Busy Bee Family Child Care Program!"

What a powerful ad! She is linking achievement in education with her child care program. All parents highly value education for their children. This child care provider is sending a strong message by showing that children from her program are successful in school.

Is it reasonable for her to make this connection? Of course! She was their first teacher (after the children's parents). This is the best way I have ever heard to tie the work you do with young children to their educational achievement later in life.
