If your state has not yet announced it is accepting applications, it will probably do so over the coming months. You should be informed when these grants will be available by your state licensing agency, your Child Care Resource and Referral agency (CCR&R), or your local licensor.  Follow this link to see if your state has begun this process.

Here is a fact sheet that explains if you will be eligible for these grants.

Here is a flow chart that explains if you will be eligible for these grants.

Note: Your state can create its own eligibility criteria that may vary from these federal guidelines.

These Child Care Stabilization grants are a financial benefit to you and you should not hesitate to apply for them when they become available. This is a grant, not a loan. You don’t have to pay it back. It can help you recover from losses you may have suffered as a result of COVID-19.

You will always be better off financially if you accept these grants, even if it means you will have to pay a little bit more in taxes. I discussed the tax implications of these grants in detail in my webinar “Help is on the Way! What the Child Care Stabilization Grants Mean to You.” Here’s a link to the recording of this webinar.

Here are some additional resources, including a Spanish translation of my webinar, a budget guide and expense tracking guide from the Early Childhood Training and Technical Assistance System.
