Promote Your Business With Your Own Website

Establishing a website for your business is a good way to attract and educate parents about your family child care program.

Because parents are looking for child care on the Internet, you want to have a place where you can introduce your business. Not having a website could be the deciding factor in whether a parent chooses your program.

Your website is an opportunity to share more information with parents about the benefits of your program. You can describe your program's philosophy, list a typical daily schedule, show children's activities, post testimonials from satisfied parents, and explain what children are learning.

Many providers show pictures of the rooms in their home where children spend most of their time. Your pictures can also highlight your outdoor play area and children's equipment. If you post pictures, be sure you have written permission from their parents.

Setting up your own business website is easier than you might think. There are three basic steps to follow:

  1. Get a domain name for your website. You can register your own domain name through www.domain.com. The cost is very small.

  2. Choose a company to host your website and sign up.

  3. Design your website.

If you don't want to do all of the work of creating a website on your own, you can use an online service that does most of the work for you.

Other websites that offer free templates include: Weebly and Wix.

Promote your website

Once you have created your own website, let everyone know about it! Add it to your referral listing with your local Child Care Resource and Referral agency. Put your web address on all of your business advertising (business cards, flyers, keepsakes, newsletters, letterhead and business signs). Add your web address to your email signature so everyone who gets an email from you will see it.

If you have a website, share your link so others can see it!
