Should I share information about a child with her school?

Privacy issues are a big deal with parents. Your state child care regulations may restrict what information you can share about the families in your care.

As a general rule, don't share any information about the children or their parents unless you are required to do so by local laws or with the parent's written permission.

Schools may be doing an assessment of a child or has a "care team" that may want to ask you questions about the child or her parent. Since you are not required by law to answer questions from a school, don't do so unless you have written permission from the parents.
